Burnbrae Farms is committed to providing consumers with details about our Company and products so they can make informed decisions about the purchases they make. Participating in the SmartLabel Canada initiative reinforces that commitment to transparency.

Why was SmartLabel® created?

SmartLabel® was created in response to consumer requests for more information about food, beverage, household, pet care and personal care products. SmartLabel® makes it easier and more convenient for shoppers to find information about products they use and consume. There just isn’t enough room on packages to fit all that information. SmartLabel® complements the way consumers shop today and enables them to get all the information they want in one location.

Who created SmartLabel®?

In Canada, Food, Health & Consumer Products of Canada (FHCP) and Allied Canadian Trade Associations spearheaded this initiative.  Through collaboration with companies that make the brands and products Canadians use every day SmartLabel Canada now houses extensive information on almost 6,000 products, with more brands and products getting added regularly.

The SmartLabel® initiative is also endorsed by all levels of government and aligns with their disclosure and regulatory compliance objectives.

How does SmartLabel® work?

Consumers will be able to find detailed information about products in English and French in several different ways. They can access SmartLabel® by searching the web; visiting a participating company’s or brand’s website; scanning a SmartLabel® QR code or product UPC code on packages; or using the SmartLabel® Product Search on this site. In the months ahead, there will also be certified iOS and Android apps to access SmartLabel® information. People can access SmartLabel® and its information from multiple access points: in the store, at home or work, by using a smart phone, tablet or desktop computer.

SmartLabel® pages have a clean, crisp, and intuitive design that makes them extremely easy to navigate and read.   The layout is consistent for all companies, brands and products so users can effortlessly find the information they’re looking for. What product information does SmartLabel® provide?

Generally speaking, SmartLabel® information includes nutritional information, ingredients, allergens, third-party certifications, social compliance programs, usage instructions, advisories & safe handling instructions, company/brand information, along with other relevant information about the product.

The Burnbrae Farms content covers those topics along with additional details on hen housing systems, hen feed, links to our Recipe site featuring almost 400 inspirational ideas, and insight into our CSR / Sustainability commitments.
