Products & Recipes

As Canada Day approaches, there is a vast number of outdoor festivities to look forward to as we celebrate Canada’s 154 th Birthday!  Although different from years prior, there are still many ways to enjoy yourself on this special occasion.  There are the traditional ways to celebrate such as fireworks or parades.  There are also other enjoyable and exciting ways to spend time with the family this Canada day such as having a picnic, hosting a barbeque, or even baking!  Here are some of our ideas.

Picnic

Canada Day is celebrated on July 1 st which kicks off the summer season.  While the weather is nice and the sun is bright, why not take advantage of this by going on a picnic for Canada Day.  Whether you want to set up a picnic at your local park or in your backyard/lawn, they are a great way to enjoy the outdoors while spending some quality time with people you care about.  If you decide to take a picnic at the park, its also a great way to catch some live events such as music, fireworks, and shows (socially distanced of course).  Don’t forget to try out some of these Burnbrae farms recipes to include in your picnic basket!

Barbeques

If there is one key indication that it’s summer, its that smell of mouth-watering BBQ drifting through the air.  Whether its walks in the park or enjoying a stroll around your neighbourhood, the smell of barbeque dominates the summer air. What better time than Canada day to fire up the grill?  Get together with some friends or family and enjoy some delicious barbeque outside.  Maybe even enjoy some fireworks and good music to accompany your food!  To get some inspiration on what to include in your Canada Day BBQ, try out some of these recipes.  Get grilling!

Baking

One thing that every Canada Day needs is some Canadian spirit! Although baking is not necessarily a traditional event, try baking our Canadian inspired Maple Tarts.  While butter tarts are definitively Canadian, a tart made from maple syrup only must be even more so.  Don't leave out the cider vinegar as it provides a subtle balance to the deliciously sweet filling.  Passing these delicious tarts around this Canada Day will surely bring out your Canadian spirit!

If you want to take a more laid-back approach, maybe try visiting a restaurant patio to support local businesses and restaurant workers.  As life begins to return to normal, remember to have a safe and event filled Canada Day this year!
