Ingredients

4 cup / 1 L FIVE ROSES Organic whole wheat flour
1 package / 8 g quick acting yeast
1 tbsp / 15 ml each dried thyme and parsley
1 1/2 tsp / 7 ml salt
1 3/4 cup / 425 ml warm water (approx.)
3 tbsp / 45 ml fancy molasses
1 tbsp / 15 ml Lactantia Healthy Attitude margarine
2 tbsp / 30 g Omega Plus liquid eggs, well shaken
1 tsp / 5 ml poppy or sesame seeds

Directions

  1. In large bowl, combine 1 cup (250 ml) flour with yeast, thyme, parsley and salt. Blend well. Stir 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) of the water with molasses and margarine. Use a wooden spoon to stir water mixture into flour mixture. Add remaining flour to make a sticky dough. If dough is dry, add up to 1/4 cup (50 ml) water.

  2. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5 to 7 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Press into a 3/4-in (2 cm) thick rectangle and cut into 12 long pieces. Roll each piece into a rope.

  3. Brush dough ropes evenly with egg. Twist each piece of dough and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with seeds. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

  4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake bread sticks for 15 minutes or until golden.
