Burnbrae Farms Sponsored Athletes Update

General

At Burnbrae Farms, we believe in helping people achieve a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition. As part of this mission, we support athletes that compete in different levels and areas of sport. These athletes exemplify healthy lifestyles through physical activity by practicing their sport and fueling their bodies with a healthy diet, including eggs of course! Here’s an update on our sponsored athletes.

Tim Nedow, Brockville, Ontario - Shotput

Tim is currently in Ottawa, ON, where he is spending his off season and planning his training season next year. He looks forward to the IAAF World Championships which take place next year in Doha, Qatar. He is confident that the time he has to train and practice will enable him to surpass his current best throws.

At the beginning of April 2018, Tim won bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Australia. This was a major accomplishment for him as it was an exceptionally competitive field.

Just over a month ago, Tim earned his new personal outdoor best of 21.02 metres at the 2018 NACAC Championships . As a result he placed second overall. This year the event was hosted in Toronto, which was impressive for the city as it welcomed many athletes from Central America and the Caribbean as well as North America.

Looking forward to next year’s 2019 Pan Am Games , Tim tells us “I hope to increase my performance from last games to gold and throw close to an outdoor personal best. I’d like to get close to 22 metres next year and if I stay healthy I know that’s in the books.”

Conlin McCabe, Victoria, BC - Rowing

Conlin is currently in Victoria, BC and has just begun training for the upcoming season. The first event this season for his team will be the National Rowing Championships from November 6th-11th in Burnaby, BC.

Last season Conlin overcame chronic tendinitis and worked hard to start training with the Canadian 8 rowing crew. They were able to finish 8th at the World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In the upcoming race season they are hoping to surpass this performance and qualify for Tokyo 2020 . With the increased pressures of competing on an International stage Conlin tells us, “The future for the team is bright, the guys aren’t afraid of the work and we know the moves we have to make to get faster.”

At the beginning of the year Dick Tonks from New Zealand became the new head coach for the Canadian Men’s rowing team. This change resulted in more rowing training for the men than ever before! Rowing over 300 kilometres a week will help the team become stronger for the qualifying year ahead of them.

We’re so proud of all of our sponsored athletes! Best of luck in upcoming training sessions and competitions, we’re all very proud of you!

Stay tuned for more updates on our other athletes.
